I wrote you a whole book about this picture the other day and when I went to login, I had ran out of time and lost it!! I hate it when that happens!! :)
I had just had dinner with my baby boy, who turns 22 tomorrow, and his girlfriend. We were sitting at a table in front of the Pantheon, in the middle of Rome. Stacey had to be away at a business dinner. Kevin had a date, and Jeff and Alex had talked about going out on a special Rome dinner by theirselves when Jeff realized, Mom would be by herself. He didn't make a big deal about it, just said I don't want you to eat alone mom, so we are going to dinner with you. It was said on a Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday night at dinner, the conversation flowed non-stop about family, past vacations, church, future dreams...........somewhere during the night, the comment about not eating alone came up again. Probably from me. I told Jeff that he had no idea how he had made my heart grow another inch the day before when he said he didn't want me to be alone. I told him it had remined me all those years ago when he was all of 3ish. His grandparents had dropped by and asked who wanted to make an ice cream run. With all three boys running for the door, Jeff turned and realized I wasn't going. He said the same sweet words. I will stay, I don't want mom to be alone. Of course I sent you on your way and assured you I didn't want you missing out on ice cream with the grandparents. With Rome at his feet, his girl on his arm, he still has thoughts for his mom. The picture of Jennifer and her two boys at that age brought back a flood of memories. Oh the power of a picture...................... Thank you Ashley and Jennifer, and of course...our boys!
